Now with all that out of the way.....Let's make some laps!
WATERBURY, VT -- Every racecar driver loves to pass as many other cars as possible. Now, Late Model drivers competing in any of the three upcoming $10,000 to win ACTion Super Series races have added motivation to do just that. In each of the three events the Hard Charger award and a $1,000 bonus will go to the driver who improves his or her starting position the most number of places from the start of the race until the checkered flag flies. In the event of a tie, the award will go to the driver who starts the race from farthest back in the field. "That's always what you want to do," said Dave Pembroke of Montpelier, VT, on the topic of passing cars and moving toward the front. Pembroke, driver of the Second Storey Homes Chevrolet Monte Carlo on the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) schedule, won the ACT opener, the Merchants Bank 150 at Thunder Road in May. The veteran runner keeps his skills sharp by also racing weekly at Thunder Road in Barre, VT. where he was the 2000 Late Model Rookie of the Year. He continued regarding the Hard Charger bonus, "I think it's pretty cool that (ACT) has something like that. The faster cars usually have to start toward the back and it gives them a wicked incentive to get to the front." The Hard Charger program will be in place for the Bond Auto Labor Day Classic 200 at Thunder Road on Sunday, September 4, the Alliance Re/Max 150 at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH, on Sunday, September 25, and the season ending New England Dodge Dealers Milk Bowl back at Thunder Road on Sunday, October 2. Made up of three of the final four ACT races of the 2005 season, the ACTion Super Series includes over $200,000 in awards as it helps to celebrate ACT's 20th birthday. "I think it's great," said Pembroke about the Super Series. "It's good to see that much money being put up and I'm sure there are going to be a ton of cars there."
