Now with all that out of the way.....Let's make some laps!
According to the Speedbowl site at 1:15pm the Pepsi 300 had not been cancelled due to weather, or any other problems for that matter. Below you will find today's radar, (which will be current each time you return to this thread).
Remember every division will be taking time trials for the first time in the history of this annual event. Should be interesting....
WIN A MAKINGLAPS HAT FREE! ANSWER THIS QUESTION:
Just For Fun: Attention all Registered Members Of the MakingLaps Forum!
Does anyone out there know the driver that won the SK Modified portion of this event more times than any other Waterford Speedbowl SK Competitor?
As promised Making Laps will give away random gifts to it members. If you are a registered member* of the MakingLaps.com Forum, and not associated with us in any way, (be it family or administration), the first member to post in this thread the name of that driver correctly will win an official MakingLaps.com HAT!
*The winner will be contacted via email for their contact information and the Hat shipped to them via USPS First Class Mail. Winner must be a registered member of the MakingLaps Forum, but may register just prior to answering the trivia question.
3:00 PM Ticket booth opens. Grandstand opens. Rotating practice sessions begin for Sportsmen, Late Models, SK Modifieds, and Mini Stocks.
4:30 PM SPECIAL MANDATORY drivers meeting at South Pit Handicapper’s Stand.
5:00 PM Sportsman Time Trials
5:25 PM Late Model Time Trials
5:50 PM SK Modified Time Trials
6:15 PM Mini Stock Time Trials
6:55 PM National Anthem
7:00 PM Sportsman feature (50 laps)
7:45 PM Bob Valenti Auto Mall Late Model feature (100 laps)
8:45 PM SK Modified feature (100 laps)
9:45 PM Mini Stock feature (50 laps)
This schedule is EXTREMELY tentative and is subject to change with or without notice. The number of qualifying events depends on the number of cars signed into the pit area.
The Sportsmen and Late Models had completed their Time Trial Events as well as all the SK's (with the eception of about 4 SK's out of the total 31 entered), in this years annual Pepsi 300 when torrential rainfall came. It only rained for approximately five minutes, but it was so heavy that the four vehicles drying the track now are having a rough go at it. But they are attempting to resume action, with the remainder of the SK's left to time trial as well as the Mini Stock division.
A nice field of SK's with 31 cars even though TC and others are currently in Jennerstown with the Whelen Modified Tour. Rob Janovic currently has fastest time in the SK division, and Dennis Botticello in his ACT LM entry took fast time for the Late Models.
We will bring you updates as soon as we hear them, so keep watching this thread. Apparently, it is currently clear at the track and word has it it is not supposed to rain again.
The Trivia prize is still up for grabs, see above!

It's okay MandyB! Failfest, ooops sorry finger slip....SailFest will be there next year. Lots of crowds, no parking, fireworks, and stuff to eat....... but you can do all that at the track, right? Plus you get racing...instead of stationary boats. If you lived down here you wouldn't be going either, for sure.
Pepsi 300 is underway!
At approximately 7:30pm the green fell on tonight's events with the Sportsmen Division Feature first. Tentatively, the schedule will go as follows,
Sportsmen 50 laps
The Remainder of the SK Time Trials-only 4 cars or so...
The Late Model 100 lapper
The SK 100 lapper
.....and the MiniStocks will end the evenings festivities with their 50 lap event. they did cancel any type of qualifying events for the Minis, and they will line up by points.
We will return with the results of the Sportsmen as soon as the checker drops, so keep watching.

With Ted Christopher running in Jennerstown with the WMT, I think it kind of leveks the playing field a bit, meaning that there won't be any falling out of trees this evening. IMHO i think that TC tends to intimidate some drivers. My money is on a regular, would love to see a guy like Jay Miller after all the controversy of late, win this thing. Rob Janovic was fastest in the time trials so far, and there are plenty of drivers with a great shot, Yuhas, Pearl, Gada. But, it is a long race. Robbie Summers has one win this season, and after a motor problem last week is probably gonna run for the gold as well. It's anybody's race. Any thoughts?

If I knew who was racing there tonight, I could give you my two cents on a few drivers and their shot on winning. But it would be nice to see a fresh face in Victory Lane tonight (or in this case, at least find out they won). Do you know who else is there in that division?
Thanks so much anonymous, due to the cancellation becaue of bad weather last night we had no chat, and it's would be difficult to do the chat from Waterford tonight with a 2-day show being squeezed into one evening, 300 long laps. If the eye in the sky wasn't spotting during the SK division we could have done a comprehensive every couple of laps LIVE chat, but since he can't do both.....
and MandyB, I would have given the complete timetrial lineup but it wasn't complete. In fact that is what is happening at the track right now. The 5 SK's that hadn't taken time are going out now, Yes, we were wrong there were five left, sorry. When he calls after the balance of the timetrials I will at least try to get the top ten or so.
The Sportsmen 50 Lap Event has completed.
Sportsmen Top Five Finishers:
Norm Root
Keith Rocco (first 2005 WSB appearance in a SM)
Dan Darnstadt
Al Stone
Joe Carusio
and there are still 250 more laps to go....
Come on, no one can answer the Trivia question posed in the first post in this thread, I'm surprised!

The Late Model Feature event is half way over. 50 Laps remaining and apparently Dennis Botticello is "running away with it". It won't be long now and we'll have the LM finish and the SK's will be taking the green.
After time trialing the remainig 5 SK's, Rob Janovic (having kept the fastest qualifying lap) was given the opportunity to draw how many cars would redraw, he picked a ten.
The top ten after redraw will start as follows:
Shawn Monahan-redrew Pole
Robbie Summers
Rob Janovic-Pole Winner
Ronnie Silk
Chris Pastreyak
Tom Fox
Curt Lenihan
Dennis Charette
Frank Mucciaciaro
Ron Yuhas
Of the 31 cars entered in tonights SK modified 100 Lap main event, there were a few "outsiders" we thought you may be interested in hearing about. These include, Tom Cravenho, Kenny Horton, Russell Lajoie, Tony Anello, Harry Rheaume (a long-time WSB competitor, and feature winner), and our own friend of Making Laps and Frank Ruocco #91 SMS SK Mod chief wrench, Stash Butova. Wonder if he will attempt to run the distance or if it is maybe a practice run for Stash?
They should be done with the LM feature soon, and this SK race sounds like a good one.....Stay tuned!

Yeah...it already sounds interesting. At least there's a few people I've heard of racing in the race: Silk, Horton, and Stash. Once again, sounds interesting. Can't wait.
*walks around clean area of floor shaking head saying "oh good God..."*
I tell you what...if this Late Model race is any indication of what the SK feature will be like we are in for a doozy!
Earlier we reported that Dennis Botticello was "running away with it". He was. After a caution, the field was getting ready to take the green on a restart when a backmarker (who was in the pits during the caution) was allowed to exit onto the track through the turn 4 pit gate.
Right in front of the leaders. The leader was wrecked.
The Late Model Top Five Finshers:
Corey Hutchings
Bruce Thomas Jr
Allen Coates
Moose Douton
Carl Ericsson
It is 10:30pm and the SK's are getting ready to take the green, this one's gonna be a nail biter. Back with more as soon as it comes in!

If anyone is interested and doesn't know Nascar New England is currently on local channel 20. It's the SMS show that airs every Saturday night at 11:05pm. right now they are interviewing Eric Berndt and TC.

Ronnie Yuhas becomes the newest winner of the Pepsi 300!
We've got the top 4 and we will be back with highlights and the complete rundown as soon as it gets posted in the pits. Remember it's only unofficial until WSB deems it so!
Ron Yuhas
Rob Summers
Dennis Charette
Jay Miller
Not many SK features this season have been without controversy and tonight's feature apparently was no different. With two laps to go and the running order as follows, 1. Ronnie Silk, 2. Shawn Monahan, 3. Ron Yuhas, 4. Robbie Summers, there was an altercation between two backmarkers who were blocking the track between turns 3 and 4. Silk slowed, and Shawn Monahan couldn't or didn't, knocking Silk out of contention (because he had to pit with damage), and wrecked himself. Yuhas and Summers both slowed and made it by the mess, Summers low, Yuhas high. Summers made it to the checker first, Yuhas second. Officials then made the decision to revert to the previous lap, putting Yuhas ahead of Summers on the restart. Some suggested after the feature was over that during a regular feature where cautions don't count, this would have been correct. But, in this 100 lap event, where cautions count, some said that it should have been in the order they crossed the line to the yellow. A green white checker was thrown, and Ron Yuhas held of Summers for the win.

Apparently, there is some sort of scoring snafu prohibiting the official release of the full Sk AND Late Model finish. We will bring it to you or head you in the direction of it as soon as it is released officially. we certainly apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused, or will cause.
The Mini Stock feature was ended prior to completing it's scheduled 50 laps. Because of the lateness of the hour, when a caution came out after midnight with like 12 laps to go, they consecutively dropped the checker as well.
Mini Stock Top Three (Two) finishers:
Danny Fields
Richard Brooks
The #81 was said to be next but there was some discrepancy in who the announcers said was driving the car. We know the #81 to be Phil Evans but announced was Brandon Plemmons. If anyone knows the status of the #81 driver please clarify this for us. Thanks in advance.
The checker has dropped on tonight's event. join us on Wednesday night for reports from bith Thompson and Stafford. We will try to bring you as much information as possible from both tracks.
Until then we will save you a seat in the stands....

Ted Christopher has the most Pepsi 300 SK Modified wins with 3 (1998 - the inaugural, 2003 and 2004). Ted couldn't 3 peat on Saturday because he was running a NASCAR WMT race at Jennerstown (PA) Speedway.
3
Ted Christopher (1998 - the inaugural, 2003 and 2004)
2
Ron Yuhas Jr. (2002, 2005)
1
Bert Marvin (1999)
Tucker Reynolds Jr. (2000)
Ronnie Silk (2001)
5 winners in 8 races.
Note post was edited to make text smaller, not change the information!
Appreciate that a lot Mandy! they didn't release the full finish last night at the track and domestic duties today prohibited me from getting this up here before you did. We relly do appreciate it.
On a personal note: The front page of the New London Day has pictures of the fireworks from last night, they really looked extraordinary. Sorry you missed it, but we had fun in this thread last night anyway....Not much consolation, but thanks so much for all you do for us here at MakingLaps!

No problem. And with the trivia...I still wouldn't have gotten it. I don't do that well with hints provided, even though they were scattered in your posts! (By the way, I enjoyed NASCAR: New England last night. See signature for details.)
My mom said that there were smiley face, heart, and rainbow-shaped fireworks last night. Any pictures of those?
