Now with all that out of the way.....Let's make some laps!
Maybe it was just me, but this off season seemed to go buy much faster than others in the past. February is here, and with that we have our first Tour-Type Modified races of 2010 just around the corner. With that said, let's get into this months "JUST MY THOUGHTS".
NEW SMYRNA - 2010 will mark the 44th year that race teams from all over the country have gathered for the "World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing" in New Smyrna Florida. This years Tour Type Modified entry list currently has 21 drivers ready to do battle in eight nights of racing. Two extra distance events highlight the schedule. The "John Blewett Memorial 50", and the race they all are their to win the "Richie Evans Memorial 100". Some interesting names have entered this year, and some interesting Driver/Team combinations as well. The SK Type Modifieds have only 11 entries to date, but the racing should be wide open with the abscence of Jimmy Blewett. Incase you forgot, "Showtime" dominated the SK Type Modifieds in 2009 taking the win in all eight events. We will do our best to bring you all the New and Results from the World Series each night as soon as we recieve them.
GEORGE BRUNNHOELZL III - After taking the 2009 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Championship, many people(myself included) wondered if "Georgie" would venture to any Northern events in 2010. Well I guess we all know now that the answer is a big Y-E-S. Incase you have somehow missed the news, George will become the new driver of the #46 for the FULL 2010 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. I for one think this team is going to turn quite a few heads, starting right out of the box at the season opening "IceBreaker" at Thompson (CT) Speedway. This leads me to my next topic.
ERIC BEERS - There have been LOTS of RUMORS, but no confimations on where(if anywhere) Beers will land for the 2010 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season. I personally was thinking he may go to the Major Motion #19, but with him not driving for the team at New Smyrna I now wonder. If anyone has any new, please feel free to share it. This now leads to my next topic.
RUMORS - I think I have said it more than once, but I LOVE RUMORS. There have been so many flying around this year it is unbelievable. At least some have been put to rest, like Preece leaving the #3, Carl Edwards in the #21( I admit, I was roped into that one), Mike Stefanik in the #21, Mario Fiore and Reggie coming back with the #44, as well as many different drivers other than Brunnhoelzl in the #46. There are still more rumors that have not been answered, and I for one can not wait until they are.
Well that's it for this month. Hope you all enjoy the Super Bowl (go New Orleans), all the action from Daytona(I will be routing for Boris Said) , and our coverage of all the action from the 44th Annual World Series. As always thank you for taking the time to read and your support of MakingLaps.com.
