Modifieds at Daytona


Believe it or not as late as the 1980's the NASCAR Modifieds competed on the 2.5 mile tri-oval at Daytona International Speedway . Here is a link to some great photo's at Pete's Racing Site.

Those are not our modifieds! How about some open wheel cars at the big D? That would be a show!!!!!

Annon those are what OUR Modifieds once were . The bodies wre a bit different but they wre the same cars raced at tracks like Thompson and Stafford .

Those are superspeedway modifieds. Our mods never looked like that. Only the superspeedway mods looked like that with the Camaro bodies. And I do remember the open wheeled mods runnuing a road coarse at Daytona in the 70's which used part of the oval.

Either way it would be a GREAT to see again. And yes they were special bodies, but basically on the same chassis as any weekly modified .
