Believe it or not as late as the 1980's the NASCAR Modifieds competed on the 2.5 mile tri-oval at Daytona International Speedway . Here is a link to some great photo's at Pete's Racing Site.
Those are superspeedway modifieds. Our mods never looked like that. Only the superspeedway mods looked like that with the Camaro bodies. And I do remember the open wheeled mods runnuing a road coarse at Daytona in the 70's which used part of the oval.
