Now with all that out of the way.....Let's make some laps!
The rescheduled Budweiser Nationals at the Waterford Speedbowl
we're going green
It's currently "sprinkling" at the track although there is no fear of cancellation. The stands are only just sparcely filled with spectators. Or as the eyewitness put it, "the stands are empty". Hopefully, it's only because fans will be showing up late.
The pit party (held between 5:30 and 6:30 pm) has completed and they are getting ready to run the feature events. With extended laps for most divisions it will probably be a long night, but we will be here bringing you any news and LIVE podium results from the track when it comes in at each checker.
Remember most of the qualifying had been completed on the original date of the event.
Tentative schedule tonight is as follows:
Legends
Mini Stocks
SK
Late Model
Sportsmen

Just heard from the track, apparently right after the pit party it started to rain. They got the pit party cleaned up, and after the rain ended, they started to dry the track. Track drying was still underway when I talked to the track at 7:30pm. Efforts were increased recently with every track vehicle, pacecar, and tow truck available. If no more rain touches down, they will probably be underway within 1/2 hour.
No features have run at the time of this posting.

The Legends feature was just completed about 15 minutes ago and the Mini Stocks have taken the track to run their event this evening. It's about time we had some results!
Len Beebe won the Legends feature and favorite and current ponts leader Jeffrey Paul was third.
On to the Minis...Keep Watching

The Minis ran a smooth race and completed their feature in fairly good time.
Mini Stock Top Four Finishers:
Ken Cassidy Jr.
Nick Papacoda-another great run coming off his win last week!
Phil Evans
Richard Brooks
The SK Modifieds were revving up in the background to get started for their 150 Lap Main Event. Jimmy Broderick, who put Mark Panes' car on the pole weeks ago for this event had the fastest time, but until the redraw we won't know who starts on the pole. Good Luck to all the competitors for a smooth afe race, but git-r-done!
SK Race start time approx 9:15pm.

Anon- We have a live chat on Friday nights during the SMS racing season as well as other random events. If the chat room is open during a specific event, we will post it in the thread with a direct link to the chat.
As for the altercation from last night, I think Openwheelracer (my partner in MakingLaps) got some information directly from one of those involved. Because he works on an SK crew he is at the track now. But, we will let him respond to your question/comment regarding Ruocco/TC at a later time. added note, eyewitnesses say there was no spill over this evening, they never got near eachother....
Thanks for makinglaps with us!

The balance of tonight's activities at the Waterford Speedbowl have been canceled due to rain!
That little green blip on the radar above was just too insistent and it began to rain during the first few laps of the Late Model event. Apparently, they had just taken the green and a yellow came out for a spin when the rains came. There was no hesitation by management to call this event. They have yet to say when the balance of the Bud Nats will be run. They still have the Late Model and Sportsmen portions to run, and say they will add it to a regular show night. When they announce the date they will be running these make-up events we'll let you know...

Mandy...sorry I didn't see your question before, I certainly wasn't trying to ignore you. I'm trying to multitask tonight, not very efficiently I might add.

The evening went pretty much as reported here, except the stands were far from empty. There was a sizeable crowd on hand and the pit party was pretty crowded. I think the second rain was just too heavy to wait out, and even if it ended quickly I think it would take too long to dry the track. The track crews, wreckers, race cars, etc. did a terrific job earlier getting the track in shape. My hats off to them.
Thanks Deb, the report of the stands being empty came from a prerennial pessimist! I think he was looking at the stands when everyone was at the pit party. Thanks so much for clarifying!

very good crowd. It was late arriving but unlike yours truly I guess everyone else had knowledge there would be no on track racing until 7pm. Um humm 8.15 after a lengthy rain delay. the rain delay did allow me to catch a portion of the redsox game (loss to Pittsburgh) and drive down to the local best buy and pick up a fathers day gift.
The sk's had a very good field of 27. Teddy Christopher was overheard saying when asked about roucco. We got issues. The crowd was anticipating all out carnage when Frank Roucco and TC were starting 4th and 5th respectively. One person said poor Chris Pasteryak(starting 6th) is going to have no place to go. It never materialized as Roucco didnt get a very good start and was quickly passed by tc and they never seemed to end up running near each other the rest of the evening. A good race between TC and Fox in the early running. TC's faded with a lose car, pitted and never made a charge through the field. Chris Pasteryak drove a good race but seemed to settle for second after trying the outside and finding fox sliding a little high to block him. The race had many exetended green flag runs, no serious accidents. A very good race, even though the winner did start from the pole and lead most of the race.
Mini's number 11 won I dont know his name. I believe he is a rookie or he never took off the yellow stripe indicating he was and this was his first win. All I can say was about 10 or 12 of his fans were absolutely thrilled with the win. It was great to see the excitement they displayed after the win.
Legends excellent pass late in the race for the win.
During the pit party I talked to corey hutchins former thompson late model competitor. I asked if he plans on running thompson this year. He said he was there for the opener and they were going to try to make it Thursday for the 50 lapper. Though he had not confirmed that with the car owner.
Rain, I am taking up bowling or maybe farming. This is ridiculous I have so many rainchecks the the rest of the summer is planned. Actually I was happy to get home at a good hour.
