A Hoosier tire test was held Tuesday at Martinsville Speedway for the upcoming Modified 300 weekend . Junior Milller driver of the # 69 for Riggs Racing represented the Whelen Southern Modified Tour , and Mike Christopher driver of the # 79 for HillBilly Racing represented the Northern Tour .
Both drivers flirted with the absolute track record of 18.746 seconds 101.014 mph , set by Greg Sacks in 1986, and feel the record will be broken come Labor Day weekend .
Junior Millers best lap was 18.80 100.73 mph and Mike Christophers best was 19.10 99.141 mph .
The Modified 300 takes place Sept 2-3 at Martinsville Speedway . The race, a combination between the Nascar Whelen Modified Tour and Nascar Whelen Southern Modified Tour , will be the FIRST EVER race run under lights at Martinsville . Practice and qualifying will be Friday Sept. 2nd . Saturday Sept. 3rd will feature a 50 lap Non-Qualifiers race and the 250 lap feature event .
