Now with all that out of the way.....Let's make some laps!
Waterbury, VT – Late Model stock car racers are raving about the new Goodyear tire adopted for use in the 2005 American-Canadian Tour (ACT) racing season. “The Goodyears hold up a lot better than the tires we used to run on,” said Jeffersonville, VT’s Joe Becker, who tested the tires at Canaan Fair (NH) Speedway. “The way they’re built, I think the constant flat tire problems everyone had last year will all but disappear.” Becker was an ACT Late Model Tour race winner at Thunder Road in Barre, VT last May.
The Goodyear tires will see their first laps of green flag racing action this weekend at the ACT Late Model Tour season opener, the Seacoast Late Model Challenge 100 at Lee USA Speedway, Sat./Sun., April 23/24. As many as 70 cars may attempt qualifying for one of 33 starting positions.
Among the drivers expected to compete is Eric Chase of Milton, VT. Chase tested his Goodyears at Lee USA Speedway and White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, NH. “The stiffer sidewall of the Goodyear makes the car feel firmer in the corners,” said Chase. “The car isn’t sloppy like it was with the old tires.”
Defending Lee USA Speedway Champion Ricky Wolf, Jr. of Northwood, NH likes that the tires are reliable and easy to work with. “The Goodyears stayed very consistent in practice,” said Wolf. “They were the same from start to finish, and that allowed us to adjust our car more easily.”
Wolf, N. Chelmsford, MA star Scott Bonney, and the Lee USA Speedway Late Models will take on Becker, Chase, and defending ACT Champion Jean-Paul Cyr of Milton, VT at the Seacoast Late Model Challenge 100 this weekend. Qualifying action begins at 1:00pm on Sunday, April 24. For more information, call (802) 244-6963 or visit www.acttour.com.
