Série ACT-Castrol Champion Gingras to be Honored in November
For Immediate Release SAC-101008-1
DRUMMONDVILLE, QC Série ACT-Castrol stock car Champion Alexandre Gingras will be honored at the annual Série ACT-Castrol Banquet of Champions, held at the Best Western Hotel Universel in Drummondville, QC on Saturday, November 15. Tickets are $50 per person, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis to all competitors, crew members, sponsors, friends, family, and fans of the Série ACT-Castrol. Thirty-two year-old Gingras, of Val-Bélair, QC, earned the first Série ACT-Castrol championship of his career with a consistent eight-race campaign that saw his SkyJet-sponsored #27QC Chevrolet Impala run as a contender for the win in nearly every race. While he never carried the checkered flag, his mid-season string of five consecutive top-ten finishes, including a runner-up showing at Autodrome Chaudière in Vallée-Jct., QC and a third-place finish at Capital City Speedway in Ottawa, ON, were enough to edge Karl Allard by just three points for the championship, 643-640. Allard, of St-Félicien, QC posted a win at Chaudière in August, and outdistanced Québecs Jean-François Déry, who won at Allards home track, Autodrome St-Félicien. Veteran Claude Leclerc of Lanoraie, QC finished fourth, while St-Nicolas, QCs Yvon Bédard and Martin Lacombe of Terrebonne, QC tied for fifth place overall. The Top 15 drivers and teams from the Série ACT-Castrol will receive awards. Patrick Hamel of St-Édouard-de-Lotbinière, QC will collect the Série ACT-Castrol Rookie of the Year honors, after an impressive season that saw the 19 year-old earn six top-ten finishes in eight starts and finish seventh in championship standings. Spencer MacPherson of Carleton Place, ON finished second in the rookie race. In addition to the Championship, Rookie of the Year, and Top 15 presentations, two surprise awards the Most Improved Driver and Sportsmanship awards will be handed out. The awards are voted on by registered Série ACT-Castrol drivers and officials. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and must be purchased in advance from the American-Canadian Tour office in Waterbury, VT no later than the Monday, November 3 deadline. Tickets are required to attend the Série ACT-Castrol Banquet of Champions, and no tickets will be sold at the door.
