Tiger Tour Sees Wave of new competion

ACT Late Model Tour Prepares For Wave Of New Competitors As Full-Season Entry List Tops 30

For Immediate Release                                       ACT-050214-2

Waterbury, VT – The 2005 ACT Late Model Tour has taken on a new look as the list of full-season entries grows.  Between new teams and long-time campaigners, the ACT Late Model Tour has received 34 full-season entries as of February 14.  That number already doubles the tally from 2004, and is expected to continue rising.

Two-time defending Champion Jean-Paul Cyr of Milton, VT will again do battle with former title winners Phil Scott of Middlesex, VT and Dave Whitcomb of Essex Jct., VT.  Joining them will be ACT Late Model Tour hotshots Jamie Fisher of Shelburne, VT; Patrick Laperle of St-Denis, Que.; Roger Brown of Lancaster, NH; Dave Pembroke of Middlesex, VT; Mark Lamberton of Mooers Forks, NY; Ron Henry of New Gloucester, ME; and 2004 Runner-up Brent Dragon of Milton, VT.

The number of returning veterans is not the only big story, however.  A totally redesigned schedule for 2005 has created huge interest across the northeastern U.S. and Canada, and fully one-half of the pre-entered drivers have never previously raced a full season with the ACT Late Model Tour.  “With the adjustments we’ve been able to make based on the majority of our teams’ feedback, we’ve been able to literally double our number of competitors in the off-season,” said ACT President Tom Curley.

Many of the teams new to the ACT Late Model Tour are based far outside the regular region of ACT teams, and include teams from six U.S. states.  That list includes Thompson Speedway regulars Marc Curtis, Jr. of Spencer, MA and former Champion Dennis Botticello of Suffield, CT; Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl veterans Cooper MacRitchie of Williamstown, VT and Trampas Demers of South Burlington, VT; and White Mountain Motorsports Park racers Bill Duggan of Belmont, NH and former PRO Truck Tour Champion David Avery of Lincoln, NH.  Oxford Plains Speedway veteran Doug Coombs of Livermore, ME; young Twin State Speedway sensation Jamien Deschenes of Rindge, NH; Beech Ridge Motor Speedway driver Lew Fortin of Berwick, ME; Lee USA Speedway teenager Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. of Hudson, NH; and top Adirondack Speedway driver Bryant Trim of Morrisonville, NY add greatly to the widespread regional growth of the ACT Late Model Tour.

“This is already shaping up to be the best season we’ve ever had, and I personally can’t wait until the season openers at Lee USA and Thunder Road,” Curley added.  The 14th season opener for the ACT Late Model Tour is slated for Sunday, April 24 at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH.  Thunder Road (Barre, VT) will host the Merchants Bank 150 on Sunday, May 1.  Both tracks will also host a $10,000-to-win “Super Series” event in September, with fields expected to surpass 60 entries.  For more information, visit www.acttour.com or call (802) 244-6963.
