For Immediate Release TR- 082208-1
BARRE, VT Glen Luce of Turner, ME is seemingly on the verge of capturing his first-ever American- Canadian Tour Late Model stock car victory. The 20-year racing veteran is in his first full season of ACT competition, and after a steep learning curve early in the year, feels that hes ready to break into victory lane. He wants to do it at the 30th Bond Auto Labor Day Classic 200 at Barre, VTs Thunder Road Intl Speedbowl on Sunday, August 31. Were knocking on the door (of the first win); weve got a lot of momentum, said Luce. We hit on something at Airborne, and weve been gaining confidence ever since. Weve been contenders almost everywhere, and weve been shown a lot of respect on and off the track. It feels good. Luce finished fourth at Airborne Speedway (NY) in May, then posted finishes of fifth at his home track, Oxford Plains (ME) Speedway in June and sixth at the most recent ACT Late Model Tour event at White Mountain Motorsports Park in New Hampshire last weekend. In between his ACT successes, Luce finished as the runner-up to former Daytona 500 winner Kevin Harvick at the prestigious TD Banknorth 250 at Oxford in July. The Thunder Road regulars have an advantage at the Bond Auto race, sort of like I have at Oxford, explained Luce. Thunder Road is a hard track to get a hold on, but 200 laps is my kind of race. My driving style has changed completely this year, and I love the long races. Ive run Thunder Road four times now and we have some notes to fall back on. It would mean a lot to get my first ACT win there in front of all those great Vermont fans And the moneys good in that race, too, which doesnt hurt. Luce will face a strong contingent as many as 50 or more at the 30th Bond Auto Labor Day Classic 200 on Sunday, August 31. Among the contenders are top championship point drivers Scott Payea, Jean-Paul Cyr, and Brent Dragon, all from Milton, VT, Montréal driver Patrick Laperle, New Hampshire hotshoes Randy Potter and Joey Pole Polewarczyk, and Thunder Road regulars Eric Williams, Cris Michaud, Dave Pembroke, and Phil Scott.
