Youve probably heard of Kevin Harvick. You know, Daytona 500 winner, Brickyard 400 winner, all that stuff. Well now Harvick is a TD Banknorth 250 winner at Maines Oxford Plains Speedway.
And now Harvicks heard of a kid that races with the American-Canadian Tour called Joey Pole.
(Harvick) told everyone in the press room after the race that it was a lucky thing he followed me and found the line I was running up by the top of the track, said Pole, whose real last name is Polewarczyk. The 19 year-old from Hudson, NH ran a groove that precious few dared to try, up near the very top of the 1/3-miles usable asphalt surface, and inadvertently taught Harvick the fastest way around Oxford Plains Speedway.
Part of me wishes I hadnt run that line so early and shown him how to get around, said Polewarczyk, but what a compliment it is to someone like me to hear Kevin Harvick say something like that. Its an honor, really.
And Harvicks now heard of Glen Luce, too. Luce, from Turner, ME, is in his first full season with the ACT Late Model Tour, and drove from outside the top 15 to finish second over the second half of the 250. When Harvick saw Luce creeping up on him during the races final stages, he told the crowd he had to pick it up a notch.
Congratulations to Luce on his second-place effort, to Polewarczyk on his third-place finish, and to the other ACT drivers in the top ten Ben Rowe (5th), rookie Nick Sweet (6th), Brent Dragon (7th), and Randy Potter (10th). Other ACT-ers in the field were Brad Leighton (11th), Scott Payea (12th), Eric Williams (17th), Rick Thompson, Jr. (18th), Joey Becker (19th), Karl Allard (21st), Roger Brown (22nd), John Donahue (29th), Phil Scott (30th), Jean- Paul Cyr (33rd), Patrick Laperle (35th), and Cris Michaud (37th).

Congratulations to 7-time ACT Late Model Tour Champion Jean-Paul Cyr on his runner-up finish in the True Value Modified Racing Series 100-lapper at Oxford on Saturday night. Cyr was offered the seat of the Gary Casella-owned #25 that he drove earlier in the year at Lee USA (NH) Speedway and Thunder Road in Barre, VT, and held on to second place behind winner David Pinkham, who ironically raced the car a week ago at Lee USA, and won a race in the car at Beech Ridge (ME) Motor Speedway in 2006.

Its Enduro time! The 24th Annual M&M Beverage Enduro 200 returns to Barre, VTs Thunder Road on Sunday (July 27) at 6:00pm. Its called The Peoples Race for a reason over 100 amateur nut-jobs behind the wheel of nearly street-legal cars for 200 laps, all for a $2,000 top prize. Its the wildest, wackiest, weirdest race youll see all year, and all for the regular price of $9.50 for adults, $3 for kids (6-12), and just $20 for a family of four. Dont forget Fisher/Federated Auto Parts Night at Thunder Road on Thursday (July 24) at 6:30pm. Eric Williams of Hyde Park, VT leads Northfield, VTs Cris Michaud by just six points in the Late Model division following Michauds win in the double-points Times Argus Mid-Season Championship last week. Craig Bushey leads Tom Therrien by only 15 points in the NAPA Tiger Sportsman class, while Lloyd Blakely and Jamie Davis enjoy the top spots in the Street Stock and Warrior divisions, respectively. Gates open at 5:00pm, racing at 6:30pm, regular admission prices!

The Série ACT Castrol is at Autodrome St-Eustache on Saturday night for a 200-lap race, the second of three trips to the 4/10-mile track this season. Patrick Laperle won there in May, followed across the line by Steven Boissonneault and rookie Jonathan Urlin. Jean-François Déry, fresh off his victory at Autodrome St-Félicien, leads the point standings over Karl Allard, Alexandre Gingras, Yvon Bédard, and Claude Leclerc heading into the St- Eustache 200.
Incidentally, the car Kevin Harvick drove to win the TD Banknorth 250 on Monday was purchased by the Denis Larue- owned team that fields equipment for Allard on the Série ACT Castrol. Will it be at St-Eustache this weekend?

Did you know?
-Kevin Harvicks TD Banknorth 250 win came in his first career start in the race. That follows a trend started in 2006 by Maines Jeremie Whorff and continued last year by Rocket Roger Brown of New Hampshire.
-Cris Michauds victory in the Times Argus Mid-Season Championship at Thunder Road was the 13th weekly win of his career, and his third Mid-Season triumph in the last eight years. He also won the race in 2002 and 2004.
-Joey Laquerre (NAPA Tiger Sportsman) and Tommy Thunder Smith (Allen Lumber Street Stock each scored their 17th career victories at the Times Argus Mid-Season Championships last week. Laquerre ranks first all-time in the Sportsman class, and also has 12 Late Model victories to his credit. Smith is first among active drivers and ranks second all-time behind Steve Renaudette (19 wins) in the Street Stocks.
