Now with all that out of the way.....Let's make some laps!
Speedway Motorsports, Inc. announced today that H.A. "Humpy" Wheeler, chief operating officer and president of Speedway Motorsports and president and general manager of Lowe's Motor Speedway, is retiring from both positions following the Coca-Cola 600.
Wheeler got his start around the short tracks of the Carolinas and is credited with being the father of Legends Car Racing, along with Bandolaros and Thunder Roadsters. Under his watch, the Dirt Track at LMS also was built. Of course, that is all in addition to all of the work he has done around the upper levels of NASCAR racing.
