Kerry Earnhardt to run ARCA race at Talladega in car Mark Martin drove to 2nd place in Daytona 500
By JIM UTTER - The Charlotte Observer
The superspeedway car used by Mark Martin that was part of a thrilling finish to the 2007 Daytona 500 is going to get another run.
Kerry Earnhardt, half-brother of Cup star Dale Earnhardt Jr., is going to use the car in the Oct. 5 Automobile Racing Club of America race at Talladega, Ala. Earnhardt will be substituting for the teams regular driver, Michelle Theriault, in the No. 37 Team Glock Racing Chevrolet. .
The car came from Dale Earnhardt Inc. courtesy of its merger earlier this year with Ginn Racing. Martin drove the car to a second-place finish in the 500 in February. The team will also use DEI engines in the race.
"We are grateful for Kerry Earnhardt stepping in to aid all of us. With his knowledge and experience of Talladega Superspeedway, we feel he will be an incredible mentor to Michelle," said team owner Jeff Spraker.
