Lanphear Returns to Thunder Road Winners Circle
Rain Washes Sportsmen/Warrior Features Away

For Immediate Release                            TR-082307-1

BARRE, VT Veteran Late Model stock car racer Dwayne Lanphear of Morrisville returned to Victory
Lane at Barres Thunder Road for the first time in six years with an impressive outside lane run in the 50-
lap Kinney Drugs Trophy Dash on Thursday night.  Lanphear battled with Wolcotts Marcel Gravel, Northfield
rookie Chip Grenier, and Essex Junction veteran Dave Whitcomb throughout the event.
Lanphear took the lead from Grenier on lap eight, but surrendered it to Gravel at the half-way
point.  A lap 39 caution period brought Lanphear outside Gravel for the restart, and the former Vermont
Milk Bowl Champion used the higher, faster groove to his advantage.  Whitcomb made a late charge past
Gravel, then pressured Lanphear for the win but ran out of time.  Gravel held on to finish third.
Montpeliers Dave Pembroke had a productive night, moving from second place in the Thunder Road King of
the Road Championship standings into an unofficial lead of 34 points with just one event remaining.
Pembrokes main rivals for the title, Jamie Fisher of Shelburne and Williamstowns Cris Michaud, suffered
their worst finishes of the season in 20th and 17th respectively.  The trio was involved in a crash on lap
40 that vaulted Fishers car over the hood of Pembrokes.  While Fisher and Michaud were forced to pit for
repairs, Pembroke continued, finishing an incredible fourth place ahead of Grenier.
American-Canadian Tour (ACT) competitor Jamie Aube of Bow, NH finished sixth.  John Donahue of Graniteville
finished seventh.  Joey Becker of Jeffersonville, Ryan Nolin of Georgia, and Rich Lowrey of Charlotte
rounded out the unofficial Top 10.
Unofficially, Pembroke leads Fisher 907 points to 873 entering the Fisher/Federated Auto Parts Trophy Dash
championship finale on Tuesday, August 28.  Michaud sits third at 867 ahead of Becker (843) and Phil Scott
(836).
Michael Moore of East Haven took his first career Allen Lumber Street Stock feature win, holding off
Topshams Tim Campbell in the divisions 25-lap main event.  Super Joe Fecteau of Hardwick finished third
ahead of Granitevilles Dave LaFleche and Hardwick rookie Maynard Bartlett, Jr..
Rain washed the NAPA Tiger Sportsman divisions 35-lap feature away after five laps were completed.
Barres Josh Lovely was leading the event before Mother Nature took over.  The balance of the Kinney Drugs
Sportsman feature will be completed on Tuesday, August 28 at the Fisher/Federated Auto Parts Trophy Dash.
The Kinney Drugs Power Shift Online Junkyard Warrior feature will also be made up at a later date.
Tuesdays Fisher/Federated Auto Parts Trophy Dash will decide the Late Model King of the Road title for
2007.  Gates open at 4:30pm, racing action begins at 6:30pm.  General admission is only $9 for adults, $3
for kids, and just $18 for a family of four.  For more information, call (802) 244-6963 or visit
