THUNDER ROAD NAMES CASELLA MOTHERS DAY CONTEST WINNERS
For Immediate Release TR-051107-1
BARRE, VT Eight lucky moms will serve as honorary officials at the Casella Waste Management Mothers Day Extravaganza at Barres Thunder Road on Sunday, May 13. Children of all ages entered their mothers names into the Casella Mothers Officials For a Day contest to nominate their mom as a potential official for a real stock car racing event at the Nations Site of Excitement. Erin Delphia of Duxbury, VT will take over Thunder Road President Tom Curleys job as Race Director. Delphia, wife of NAPA Tiger Sportsman competitor Brian Delphia, was entered into the contest by her daughter Chelsea. We all know how she likes to be in charge of things, explained Chelsea, 13. She is not afraid to tell people what to do but in a nice way, of course. I know my mom would be good at this, I have a lot of confidence in her. Kim Whitcomb of Elmore, wife of Power Shift Online Junkyard Warrior stalwart David Whitcomb, will be the honorary Director of Competition, and will oversee the entire pit area and technical inspection. Sharing duties with Chief Starter Mike Wilder on the flagstand will be Darlene Avery, Wendy Moody, and Kim Hamlin. Sue Tillotson and Karen Bushey will lead the field under the direction of Pace Car Driver Bob Bigelow. Busheys son, Sportsman competitor Craig Bushey, may be able to advise his mother ahead of time Craig held the pace car job at Plattsburgh, NYs Airborne Speedway several years ago. Donna Burnham, mother of former Allen Lumber Street Stock racer Wicked Wanda Burnham, will oversee registration at the pit gate for the second straight year. Donna excelled at her job last year, said Thunder Road Administrator Tina Gallison. We ought to hire her full-time! The winning moms will be put to the test on Sunday, May 13 at the Casella Waste Management Mothers Day Extravaganza. On tap is a 100-lap event for the NAPA Tiger Sportsman division, and a special Mothers Only race. Green flag racing action is scheduled to begin at 2:00pm.
